The 24GRD08 GridForm project
The European Union aims for a clean and secure energy supply and infrastructure as part of its Green Deal ambitions. The expansion of renewable electricity generation greatly reduced greenhouse gas emissions but also led to reduced grid inertia and frequency instability. Grid-forming converters that connect renewable generation of energy or energy storage solutions to the electricity grid have the potential to compensate for this reduced grid inertia and improve frequency stability, provided that they function as intended. To prove their correct functionality, the project will develop the metrological infrastructure for reliable evaluation of the dynamic behaviour of grid-forming converters and their efficiency.

The 24GRD08 GridForm project has received funding from the European Partnership on Metrology, co-financed from the European Union’s Horizon Europe Research and Innovation Programme and by the Participating States. Click here for more information on Euramet webpage.
This project will increase the take-up of RES across the grid, accelerating progress towards the 2050 net-zero emissions target of the European Green Deal.
